Follow the below instructions to use the Guide Combs sequentially to create any taper hair length desired or simply to just clean up around the ear.

Attach either the Right or Left Guide Comb to your clipper.
(we recommend setting the taper/adjustment lever on your clippers to the open position initially and close the lever as desired for a closer cut.

Orient the clippers with the thicker side of the guard above the thinner side and, beginning at the front of the face, cut around the ear at a 45 degree angle using a smooth motion.

Continue around the back of the head and pass around the opposite ear.

Attach the other guard and repeat steps 1- 3, starting on the opposite side of the head.

Once the desired taper or fade has been achieved, attach the corresponding standard hair clipper cut lengths to your clippers and finish the cut.
For example, if using a Ruby (#1 to #3) Guide Comb, use a #1 to cut all hair below the fade line and use a #3 to cut all the hair above the fade line.
